The World Trade Organization (WTO) has published a report on how the global intellectual property rights system relates to the COVID-19 pandemic and its potential contributions to efforts to manage this crisis. The report also highlights the WTO Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), which is a comprehensive multilateral agreement on intellectual property and provides a general framework through which innovation related to COVID-19 is encouraged, shared and disseminated, maintaining a balance between rights and obligations.
