A new UNCTAD instrument measures the capacity of states to achieve social and economic transformation and helps to monitor their capacity to achieve the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations. The Productive Capacities Index (PCI) is an online portal that includes publications, resources and tools that allow decision makers to measure the performance of the state in terms of its ability to meet its own development goals, such as and those of sustainable development established by the UN. "As states struggle to counter the COVID-19 pandemic, their need to build production capacity nationwide for sustainable and inclusive growth is greater than ever," said UNCTAD Secretary-General Mukhisa. Kituyi, at the launch of this tool.
