A new report of the World Bank highlights threats to poverty reduction efforts and provides recommendations for their management. For more than 25 years, the level of extreme global poverty has been steadily declining. Now, for the first time in a generation, the level is rising. This regression is largely caused by some important global challenges - COVID-19, conflict and climate change - which affect all states, especially those with a large poor population. The COVID-19 pandemic is a new but extremely serious threat that will affect the long-term global well-being of the population. That is why it is necessary for states to improve cooperation, invest in preparedness and prevention and cover gaps between policies and their implementation.
