States have begun to recover to some extent from the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, but increases in the number of infections in some regions show us how fragile and uncertain this recovery can be. The good news is the progress made in developing vaccine. Although the process is not over, this success strengthens hopes that the virus, which has caused more than a million deaths and lost tens of millions of jobs globally, can be eradicated. However, resolving the health crisis will not instantly lead to a full recovery of the economy, and therefore the states of the world need to continue solid political action to combat uncertainty and lay the foundations for a better economy for the 21st century.
