The global spread of COVID-19 has created unprecedented challenges for UN Member States in meeting their commitments under the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which address issues such as reducing global poverty, achieving gender equality, institutional transparency and climate change mitigation. At the same time, the pandemic has made all states aware of the importance of sustainability for the global economy, society and the environment. Clearly, the crisis will change the assessment of the organization's performance, accountability and transparency, enabling auditors and accountants to play important roles. They can create a transparent environment in the process of implementing the SDGs in the post-COVID era.
